Among others, expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS), expanded polypropylene (EPP) and polyurethane (PUR) are counting to the class of hard foams. These materials are characterized by a keen price per volume and are especially interesting for components with a large volume. Special foams for high-temperatur applications up to 180°C, for low temperaturs to -200°C (for example for cyrostats and for the isolation of nitrogen containing fittings) and sytactic foams for high pressure are also handled by us.
Hard foams also demonstrate their cost advantages in the milling work. Components are built fast, because large infeed and high feed rates are possible.
The surfaces also can get high-gloss polished. Indeed the surface hardness is rather low and the resilience (walk-on stability, number of possible moulds, concentrated loads) is limited. The densities of the several hard foams differ between 20 kg/m³ and 400 kg/m³.
